Geometric Origami

geometric origami made by student J.S.

Origami is an art form that has been around for thousands of years. It’s nice because even if you feel like you are not good at drawing or painting, you may still possess the skills needed to be a good origami artist. The above photo is a piece of origami made by one of my students. It took 30 pieces of paper to create, using nothing but folds. There is no tape holding it together!

If you are interested in more complex forms of origami, has an excellent selection of geometric origami designs. For basic and traditional forms, my favorite site is Origami Club, which has both diagrams and videos. Youtube also has a lot of instructional videos for making origami.
