The Sketchbook Project

Sketchbooks are often overlooked as works of art. We don’t mat and frame them; they’re rarely displayed. The Sketchbook Project aims to change that.

Artists can request to have a sketchbook sent to them. They choose a theme and fill the sketchbook with their thoughts and drawings based on that particular theme. They then return the sketchbook to The Sketchbook Project for it to be added to the SP library, which is really a traveling exhibit that tours the world.

Sign up ends October 31st, 2011, and the tour begins in April of 2012.

I am participating in this event (!!!), and will be scanning images of my sketchbook before I mail it in to share with my readers.

Have any of you participated in a large scale art project? What was it like?
