Colorscape 2010

If you’re around this weekend, Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival is a great event to visit. It’s Saturday and Sunday, September 11th and 12th, 2010 in the park in downtown Norwich.

Here is a list of featured artists at the show, including people who do ceramics, paintings, photography, and all types of fiber arts (sewing, knitting, felting, etc.) One of my favorites, who will be back again this year, is Richard Birketts, who makes clocks with a fantasy and often steampunk feel to them. The “steam” in steampunk refers to when machines used steam power to run, and the genre often includes exposed gears or mechanical inner workings.

Even if you’re not a fan of craft fairs, it’s still worth the stop to Norwich. There is a tent with a display of artwork, and the food options are great too. There is enough fun stuff to keep you busy all afternoon, even if you don’t want to spend any money.
